That said the superbowl is often overhyped, and a preposterous corporate extravagance where serious fans can't really afford the ticket plus the superbowl tax on rooms, etc.

I know...I always ask this. But, a lot of them like little engined girl cars with no power and prefer handling, which is akin to figure skating as opposed to ice hockey, so it makes sense when you think of it that way.

They probably tricked out the Barbie Ferrari when they were little instead of destroying things with a power wheels or sliding sideways for half a block on a big wheel trike.

My ex step brothers are pretty athletic, but I will text them as a group during the World Series, the Superbowl, the Final Four and so forth and ask them what they are doing. Invariably, not one of the three have even the faintest clue that these events are even occurring.

Da fuq. I mean, I understand that there are more productive things than watching sports, but damn, its about the only TV I watch! After the NCAA tournament, my TV pretty much goes dark until September.

Football is actually a good way to keep in touch with my dad, who lives in the Midwest. We bet 3-6 games a weekend, 5 bucks a game. Somebody usually ends up owing 20-50 bucks by the end of February. Otherwise, there's not all that much to talk about sometimes, so it performs a useful function that way.
