Why does the R32 have no fog lights?

I never understood this. It's a total turn off IMO, and I can't understand why VW thinks the R doesn't need them. Those big honkin' gaps in the bumper look like doody, and would look much better w/fogs.

meh, get over it. the way fog lights are set up for american cars (with them not being able to be used without the headlights on) they are really useless anyways. it's just cosmetic...so don't sweat it, there are bigger things to worry about in life. if you like them so much, enjoy the fogs you have in your GTI and call it a day.

It is not VW the only one taking the fogs out from their performance line, BMW has finally done the same with their M vehicles with the new, upcoming E92 M3... no M have fogs, but their lesser versions do.

I do not see their rationale, after all it is not that the headlights assemblies on those performance vehicles have integrated fog lights or the light pattern is expanded compared with the regular models.

I guess that it is another way of differentiating these models from their base cars. I do not like it, either.

Good fog lights are a lot better than HIDs for fog. At least for me, it seems like the super bright HIDs reflect back while the fogs can pierce through better....

i think the hids are strong enough for the lack of fogs

brighter isnt always better in fog...

typically the reason fogs are lower to the ground is to shine closer to the ground, thus illuminating the ground better

that's why i made my first post. the point of fogs is to light up the ground in heavy fog, when headlights just reflect the light back and essential blind you. since in america, you can't (legally) have your fogs on without your headlights, fogs are essentially useless when actually needed for foggy conditions. (i know, i live in an area where the fog can be a bitch sometimes)

sometimes i wish i had the foglights, but not having them dont bother me at all. In a foggy situation the HIDs are more than adequate, the foglights intend to light up the corner sections and the bottom (ground), in most cases i should not be following anyways. To me it has always been more cosmetic than functional item. But like i said it would be nice to have them, right now we are working on S6 LEDs, hopefully should come together in a few months.
