On a side note pretty sure I'm about to do a timing belt job. Car started to sound like a diesel, popped the hood and it was coming from the timing cover. When I put my hand on it the vibration was pretty evident. I'm assuming I'm feeling the belt slapping.
Everything seems fine aside from the noise and vibration on the timing cover. No check engine light, idle was still smooth, etc.
Figure out more when I get it home and have a chance to tear into it.

Also, in park if revved to 2500 or so the noise completely goes away

Could be the tensioner or pulley too. But yeah. Definitely don't let it go. That'd be expensive.

I've done MKV timing belts in 45 min. It's not a hard job
