watched this the other night, it rules. little over an hour long talking in depth about the mp4/4 with a few of the designers and one of the mechanics of the car.

Tomayto, tomahto. RB will more than likely use Ric for promotional stuff in addition to sim work/etc. Merc typically uses one on their two drivers for any promotional work (see their recent Vegas promo), while the reserve does the work behind the scenes. Who knows, that role might change with a longer calendar and more strain placed on driver 1/2.

unless one of the main drivers gets sick the reserve driver isn't going to drive a race next year, they'll be around to do testing but they miss the big show.

That's fine. If you can prove your worth in the sim/set-up work and show you have the right stuff when that one opportunity presents itself, it's a good way/the only way to get teams to look at you seriously. It's worked for at least two current drivers on the grid so far.

this makes sense considering GM and Honda are teaming up for an electric vehicle.

Would be nice if they could just go back to racing in China, I always liked the track; it's a shame they couldn't get Portimao to replace it. No race between April 4th and 30th is almost like having two season breaks, maybe it gives teams additional time to get on top of the 2023 cars or bring more significant updates, sooner.

Here are the 'so-far' confirmed dates of the 2023 car launches:

Red Bull – February 3
Williams – February 6 (season launch)
AlphaTauri – February 11
Aston Martin – February 13
McLaren – February 13
Ferrari – February 14
Mercedes – February 15
Alpine – February 16

That article is dead right though, they have reliability issues to solve. So many races ruined for them with broken stuff.

the article was a mistranslation. 1 second faster actually refers to how much more quickly the engine fails.
