Forge Diverter Valve Spacer

I was under the impression that the factory system diverted the excess to keep the turbo spinning slightly so as to prevent turbo lag. Basically keeping the turbo pre-spooled. It is possible that this piece could make your turbo lag more, which would not really be evident on the dyno.

Yes, I'm new, but I wanna get this straight.

BOV Pros and Cons

Pros:
Whooshing Sound
Less hot air reentering
Possibly Prolonging Turbo Life

Cons:
Less Gas Mileage
Possibly Less Power

As far as the 1.8T, there has been know signs of loss fuel mileage, at the same time most people who are using this valve are more on the side of performance rather and economy. According to all the "experts" (A team member of John Force racing, 2 ASE Master techs, Owner of Dynocomp) that I have spoken to the only way they know of A/F being altered is when there is a vacuum leak in the bov itself, or in the engine. That being said, that are always two camps on any subject. Until someone can explain way fuel trim would be affected I have to stay on the side of the people that teach me.
A 50-50 valve will not effect turbo lag too much. I like the 50-50 due to the fact that is allow a cooler operating temp for the turbo. I am not saying that anyone has to buy one. But the techs I work/go to school with and I like the valves.
I am getting mine on the 21st should be installed the following weekend. I will keep track and report if my mpg change as well as my power loss/gain. The 2.0T is still so new in the states I guess there is only one way to find out.

That is one thing I do like about the 50-50 it is a little louder than the stock dv, if I can figure out how to set up an audio file once I get it installed I will record the 3 settings. 100% atmo, 50-50, 100% deverted. Anyone have a clue as to the best way to do that?

the thing with the stock valve is that it really doesnt hurt the flow, its actually a really good design to have it recirculate back into the intake, that away the next time you need power the boost is there and ready to go, but if you guys want the nice sound you can use the stock valve for lower boost but hook up another nicer BOV on the pressure piping and have it vent under high pressure say if your using a chip, or im need to read more about this engine since its new to me but im sure it would be easy for a company to CNC machine a block off plate and then you can use an external BOV

I was wondering how hard it is to install this BOV. Do I need a shop to do it, or is it something an average guy can do. (Sorry new)

I did it while on "lunch break" from rebuilding my buddy 5.0, I was albe to change it using jack stands and an allen wrench. It took about 20-25 mins start to finish. I was VERY easy.

If anyone's curious the reason it doesn't really sound like a normal blow off valve (BOV) is that it's not really a BOV. It just allows you to hear the turbo's natural sound louder.

How come in the videos, the so to speak woosh sound is so elongated? Is that just them not fully taking their foot off the gas or is that how the forge spacer sounds now?

Because you keep the stock deverter solenoid the longer you keep your foot of the gas between shifts the longer is blows off. Depending on how hard you hit the gas will change the volume of the blowoff.
