MkV GTI vs. BMW 328i

I just bought an '06 MkV GTI and my girl recently bought a 328i they are supposed to push about 200 hp as well, not sure about the curb weight of the 328 or the torque but was wondering who had the advantage in this if we were to do, say a 1/4 mile. Anyone have any opinions?

328i has 230 hp (unless you're talking about the old 328i). It should be pretty close but I think your GTI will have an edge.

I pulled maybe half a length on a 328xi from 70 - 120. Don't know what the low end would be like. Should be close.

It has more rotational mass and overall weight due to the AWD system, but BMW shortens the final drive (3.38 vs the RWD's 3.23) to make it about as fast as the 328i. You just get worse gas mileage. You're right.. it is slower.. but not by a whole lot.

if you're talking about hte new 328i (sedan or coupe) it would be pretty close.

yea its the 2007 328i, no turbos or anything and its the 4 door.

Not sure about the torque numbers on the bimmer but i would bet it would be a good race.

stock they have a soft rev limiter, so you would deff win, considering someone pulled half a car from 70 - 120 where revs dont matter as much as they do from a dig. good luck
