Tips - removing bulb retaining ring?

Mostly lurk on here but have a question

Any tips on how to remove the bulb retaining ring for a hid bulb replacement, drivers side?

I can get an okay grip on it but it just won't budge. I really don't want to pay the stealership to change such a small part but not sure I will be able to get it to budge.

Any tips? Would trying to hit the outside part of the ring with some wd40 be a horrible idea?

it's basically a quarter turn to remove it once the igniter is removed. If it appears stuck, my best suggestion would be to simply remove the headlight assembly so you can gain more leverage on it. It's not a lengthy process to remove, and gives you a lot more room to work, especially if you've never tried to reinstall the bulb before - they can be quite a bit of a pain especially driver side, for your first time

Thanks for the response. I was able to get it to budge using one of those rubber jar opener things. I just couldn't get a good grip. After that, it was a 5 minute job for both.
