Painting OEM Jetta Chrome Grill how to?

Hey guys,

Hopefully I don't get anyone in a twist since I can't find any post relating to this

Just wanted to get some feedback

I have a Jetta chrome OEM grill, I have since removed the slits and I wanted to have the shield painted Candy White

I was hoping for some feedback since I heard that it is required to peel off the chrome with a razor blade? Or I can sand it down enough for the body shop to be able to paint it properly?

Any advice would be VERY appreciated
