MK5 4Motion TDI Haldex oil change?

Hi all, this is my first post so please go gentle with me!

I have had several Golfs over the years and finally got the car I wanted a MK5 GTTDI 4Motion!

I have lots of plans for it, GTI front bumper, GTI sideskirts and Monza alloys but focusing on getting the car 100% first.

Posted here as I'm lead to believe that MK5 R32 and 4motion have the same Haldex unit.

I took the car to my local VAG specialist for a Haldex oil and filter change and they couldn't do it as they said they don't have the correct tool for my car? They said they have not done a TDI 4Motion before and didn't want to spend £140 on the tool for a £70 one off job. I can understand this to be fair as it makes buisness sense.

They said that they regularly change R32 and Quattro oils on MK 4's and 5's but mine was different, is this correct?

I'm not confident to do it my self but thought this was a odd excuse for them to use as I trust them.

If anyone can offer some advice to if the units are different it would be appreciated. I could just take it to my local VW stealership but prefer to use my independent if possible.

Would suggest returning to the mkv page and going to the services forum. Or gti or golf or TDI. Not sure but think the r is more frequent. As its not to be used gently :)

i have a DIY on the Haldex and the rear Diff oil and filter change.

I u have the Gen 2 Haldex then u will not need a Tool to do the Haldex or Rear Diff oil and filter change BUT if u have the Gen 1 Haldex the same one that comes in the mk4 R32 then YES u will need a tool to take out the Haldex Filter socket to get access to the filter itself.

So if u can get under ur car a get a pic of ur Haldex and see what u have and then post the pic then we / i can help u decide what u have!!!

If u have the Gen 2 Haldex then my DIY for the Haldex and Rear Diff will help u get it all done at the connivance of ur own home / garage!!!

BTW..... All this cab be done with a NO jack or jack stands BUT its nice to have them if u are a husky kind of a guy, lol, Im 150lbs a i can get it done with put jack stands BUT now i have a lift to get my car off the ground now. lol

Get us a pic of the under side of that rear so we can help u out more

Change of plan, it's been pouring down here and down want to get under the car. My girlfriend had just pulled of my auto dimming mirror when moving it so I'm going to the stealers later and will get it booked in for next week as its the same price as the independent.

Thanks for the advice and help though its appreciated!

Make sure the dealer / Tech knows what he is doing and i would not trust anyone that has NEVER done the Haldex Fluid maintenance before.

Even if they did screw it up u will be without ur car for awhile cuz ur rear end will fall out the rear of the car if they mix up the haldex fluid with the Rear Diff fluid. Just saying......

Good luck!!!!1
