Auto hold?

Happened to me twice recently DSG 1.4 MK 7 auto. Last time I was parked on a hill facing downwards very tight space in front, put in R car rolled forward applied foot brake, each time I released the foot brake it rolled a bit again nearer and nearer to an expensive Porsche in front. I was afraid to boot it in reverse in case the darn thing shot forward or hurtled back into the car behind! Used the foot brake like a hand brake while reversing till I was clear. Not at all confident in tight spaces now. I can imagine the comments if I hit it "another stupid pensioner crashes his automatic, hit the wrong pedal"🤣 Any ideas please?

If you are not using seatbelt auto hold is not working. To activate auto hold you need to start your car, fasten seatbelt, press and hold brake pedal, press auto hold button till its turns orange. If auto hold button doesnt light up orange its not working and you are doing something wrong.
