2007 gti mkv winter tire 16"

Hello people,

Great forum. I recently purchased a 2007 mkv gti. Winter is coming in ontario, canada and was thinking of buying 16" wheels to replace my 18" wheels before the snow comes. I found some 16" wheels with Pirelli Ice control tires with 215/60/16s 5x112. Will these fit the gti?

depends on the offset. if they are oem wheels they will more than likely fit. however some 16 inch wheels don't clear the front calipers.

The wheels are OEM. Vw wheels according to the seller. I hope they clear the calipers. I will drive there and see them for myself.

205/55/16 is the correct size

They'll be a little "balloonish" looking but you should be fine. I ran 215/55/16's with no problem on an H&R sport cupkit (no clearance problems). Some guys run 235/40/18 tires which are both wider and slightly taller than the OEM 225/40/18's, so you should be fine.
