i'm really feelin the love here so i'm ready to spring my next confession.
It's not a Mk7 confession though.
i bought my last car in 2001. Drove it for 19 years. The closest i ever came to washing it was brushing a foot or two of snow off of it. That's right, in 19 years the car was never washed other than what the weather provided.
(For the concerned, i'm being much better with the GTI.)

I feel your pain bud. Same thing happened to me. They offered me 15k for my 65k miles, 2-dr 6mt. Simply can't find that car on the market, and they think a 100k miles mystery box dealer trade in is a made-complete replacement.
Make a case and fight for it. They'll show you a list of "comparable" cars and argue that's the value. Make your own list and show that your car isn't selling for that much. NADA and blue book evaluations are only a suggestion.
Or offer to buy it back (if applicable) and furnish the repairs yourself!
Felt that, back when I first did the IS38 swap and changed my Uni tune from Stage 2 to the IS38 file, the car was running no different than the stage 2 file, except with the added aroma of smelling fuel all the time. I sourced a stupid clean 2017 36k mile Golf R in black and DSG, and they offered me 15250 for my GTI. Undecided, I went home to think about it and same day Diggs offered to tune my car. The rest is history.

You can definitely contest that. Find some local cars for sale that are comparable and the adjuster should find in your favor for a more fair deal.

I’d suggest enjoying the time and experiences that the car has provided. No regerts! I know I had a lot of fun in my Golf before I sold it, and made a lot of driving friends all the while. Give an m2 a try, if possible. I’m now enjoying roads that had grown boring with my Golf.Unfortunately I won’t have the pleasure of regretting
