First, an 18-wheeler runs me off the road, taking my passenger mirror and some paint with it.

Then, today, a woman backs into me on a main road while I'm stopped.....rearview camera and me laying on the horn, she never heard or saw me til she was in my front bumper

People just kinda suck at life. On the bright side, I'm gonna end up with basically a whole new front end.

I actually was able to flag him down and we got a police report and everything. I've already gotten in contact with his company's insurance too. Now to wait for their appraiser

That's pretty funny actually. I've just made a point to either: A. Make sure I am seen by the truck or B. Haul ass past him so he doesn't even have a chance to hit me. No more riding beside trucks for me :thumbdown:

I agree with this. But only to a certain extent - they do have to deal with a lot of bullshit on the road. I learned this by being a passenger of an 18 wheeler for all of 30 minutes.

Having said that... There are A LOT of truck drivers out there that are giant douche canoes. Fuck them

Buddy of mine started truck driving a few months ago. He put some perspective in my head when he told me some of the things he sees. It's all relative too; car drivers are assholes to truck drivers too.

My biggest pet peeve is when you're driving on a two lane road, especially one with hills and a truck cuts you off with no one behind you. My buddy explained this to me. The reason they do that even if no one is behind you is to keep the momentum moving. A lot of the time, they're hauling 45,000lbs of stuff and can't slow down in time, or, if there's a grade ahead, they'll try and keep that momentum going to make the pass.

Tell your buddy to be careful though. Some truck drivers make bikers look wimpy. A lot of them have CB radios. Another buddy of mine told me the story where they all drove down to Florida back when they were 18 years old in a minivan. The one guy thought it'd be a good idea to moon a truck driver. Fast forward a few miles up, and a whole gang of truck drivers literally trapped my buddy to the point where he couldn't get around them.

Finally, probably after 30 minutes of this, my buddy took a really small gap and got past them.


TL;DR version: You don't want to mess with truck drivers. They drive thousands of miles a week. They're probably tired a lot of the time. They see asshats everyday cutting them off. I'm willing to bet a lot of them conceal carry even if it's not legal. Etc.

This. There are exceptions and some truck drivers are just plain douche canoes as you said.
