Iv had my new wheels on my car for over 3 weeks now and i need to lower my car but i think i only want springs but i dont know how low to go im thinking between 35mm and 40mm because i just want the car to sit nice and beacuse where i live theres speed bumps everywhere and theres no point going any lower and will i have any problems with rubbing with the 40mm drop or shall i play it safe with the 35mm drop.
The alloys iv got are the scirocco style alloys there 8j with a offset of 45
The tyres are 235/35/r19
my car is a mk5 golf tdi 1.9 57plate

If anyone could post pics of there car lower on 19" so i can get a rough idea and any info would be helpful

Thanks

microwave is clearly messing around Phil. Honestly, 235/35's are going to limit as to how low you can go. 35mm is 1.4". 40mm is 1.6". I ran a 2" drop up front and 1.6" rear with 18x8 ET45 wheels, but they were 225/40/18. No rubbing, but I'd just go with the 35mm springs. .2" isn't a huge difference, but it could be the difference between rubbing and not rubbing. Next time you're shopping for tires, go with 225/35/19's. If you really want to slam it, go with 215/35/19's.

yeah i agree i think i will stick with the 35 mm springs for now because as i say the alloys are new and the tyres came with them so i might as well use them up and then i think il try the 225/35/R19 and invest in some coilovers and thanks for the info

No problem. Here's an example of a GTI on 19's with good stance.

19x8.5 et 45 225/35/19 and on coilovers.

I like them. They're like the CC Interlago's wheels, just 19". 19's are hard to pull off, but I think the example I posted is perfect.
