Alternator Current Output

Very soon I am planning on getting my GTI and had a queston about the alternator output. I have a stereo system that draws about 40-50 amps at peak which will be moved into this car. All other older Volkswagens I have driven/seen have at least a 90 amp alternator and would handle this system fine. Anyone have any idea what the current rating of the alternator in the MKV is?

The alternator of the European MK5 GTI produces 140 A while it also has a 380 A battery which can deliver 72 Ah. I guess the NA GTI has the same parts as the EU GTI.

If the North American GTI has a 140 amp alternator I may be forced to do some upgrading :biggrin:
