I can confirm that, that law sucks because we've been incarcerated with it badly in Virginia. I had a Greddy Exhaust on my old Prelude, and got pulled over 3 times in a month and a half for it...no fun!!

Is the law in place because of sound or pollution? I know alot of places have a sound decibal limit, always had to be careful driving my dads mustang around old town, VA for fear that the VA cops would be finicky.

i have friends in mass who put aftermarket exhausts and no one says anything unless its way too loud

just ask a cop..and be specific...decibal levels...and remember, the only time MOST of the exhausts are loud for the gti are when u lay on it...so if u were arond cops just dont lay on it...and unlike fart cans...cops cant tell by just seeing the exhaust and saying, thats aftermarket...so...yeah
