Hey all, I've been trying to find part numbers and or information on the ipod cable option. I'm tired of my sirius cutting out all the time, want the option to go to my ipod now. I upgraded from the factory head unit to the mfd2. I don't care if its the cable for the glove box or if its the center console unit. Anyone know if either are readily available in the US? Thanks.

Nick's doesn't list part #'s, so both threads will be useful.

Todd's setup won't work because I don't have the Premium 7, I'm running the MFD2. I want something hidden that I can still control the ipod from the steering column or stereo itself. My options are growing thin. ;)

The factory setup supplied with the MFD2 DVD meets your request (barely) - it is hidden and controlled from either the steering wheel controls or the keys on the MFD2 DVD itself. Fairly big task to add it. You need to swap the armrest cover to the media bay version and run a cable from the armrest to the HU.

The factory iPod dock for the MFD2 DVD is a converter that makes the iPod emulate a CD changer. As such, it only has the functions available to the CD changer - CD1-5 is mapped to the first five playlists in your iPod and CD6 is play all.

MFD2 CD and DVD

This might be a stupid question but can anyone tell me whats the main difference between MFD2 CD and DVD?

As far as im aware, they are both the same unless you buy an external DVD player to connect to the MFD2 DVD version?!

In other words you can't play DVD's on the dvd version unless you buy the external dvd player to fit beside the arm rest

That right??

The diffeence is the internal drive data storage capacity, it has nothing to do with video.
With the CD version, you recieve a group of discs and you need to swap them based on the reigion of the country.
With the DVD version, everything for US and Canada fits on one disc - much more convenient!
IIRC the CD version does not have support for sat radio either.

GPS antenna - MFD2

After waiting to buy the MFD3 (UK), my friend who works in my local VW garage was able to hook me up with a brand new MFD2 for £170 ($280 USD). It was in a R32 show room car which was upgraded to the MFD3. GREAT DEAL!!!!...I couldnt refuse!

Anyway....I'm going to do a DIY job to fit it but i wondered if anyone could tell me where to sit the GPS antenna???? Just sit it on top of the machine under the dash facia? Obviously secure it so it didnt rattle about!

How easy is the security coding? just as simple as it asking for the security code and you type in the code from the code card?

Hope someone can help me asap cheerz!
