So driving to San Diego yesterday, this happened to me twice. I was going around 80mph in cruise control and then when I wanted to pass someone I would increase my speed via the CC stalk. When I'd hit around 85 mph or so, the EPC warning light came on with the electronic stability control light and I lost all throttle power. Pulled over to the side of the road, car felt all jerky as I was slowing down, turned the car off, back on, and then the lights went away and everything was fine. After the second time this happened, I stopped using CC and it didn't occur again, although I tried to stay out of boost as much as possible the rest of the way. I haven't been able to scan for codes yet, but has anyone had something similar happen to them? The car is flashed stage 2 with all the bolt-ons.

since you're in sd, i might need a shop contact if my car wants to act the fool again.

Did you want to take it to a dealership or a performance shop?

If you want to take it to a dealer, go to City VW which is located in Mission Bay. Ask for Shane Dehner.

For a performance shop, take it to Group5 Motorsports which is off of Miramar Rd.

Had same type of problem on a Passat and the car had everything replaced but continued to go into EPC. After the 4th or 5th flatbed tow I convinced VWoA to do a buy back and they cashed me out. Its pretty unsafe- keep us updated as to a fix.

In my case.. Everything electrical was replaced and nothing fixed the problem and that is why with 3k on the clock the car was purchased back by VWoA.
Never did find out a fix. I was just happy VW stepped up and bought it back. Oh sure i lost some money on mods but at least I wasn't standing on the freeway waiting for a tow anymore. They did give me a discount on my next car purchase also.

do u know what happend??

no still don't know what happened, but my tech back in town said that it could be the brake light switch (as weird as that sounds), which is needed for operation of the t-body and cruise control. There are 4 pins - one feeds the light, one feeds the convienence control module and one feeds the ECM - if faulty it could send a signal that you are pushing the brake when you aren't and cut boost. but i will have him scan for codes wheni get back home, i just am gonna stay away from cruise control on the drive back and hopefully the same shit doesn't happen.

turned out to be a faulty fuel sensor that caused the EPC light to come on and put me in limp mode while using CC - in case anyone else encounters a similar problem
