Well, i'm trying to remove the door strips, you know the ones that go across the whole door, and also onto part of the rear section. any suggestions? i tried to tug on them, but they didn't wanna budge.

This is a mod many do with Corvettes that have the body side molding (BSM). The best way to do it is to use strong test fishing line. Wrap the ends around a couple of screwdrivers so you have something to hold on to. Work the line between the molding and car, then using a sawing motion work your way down the trim. A bit of oil on the line will help, or just run a small bead down the trim. Once you get it off, the real work begins. Using your fingers, rub and work the goo off that is left behind. You can use some goo remover but you risk damaging the paint if you're not super careful. It's a PITA and takes a while. Once you're done you'll need to clean everything up and you may (or may not) need to put a coat of wax on. Many have done this, even on Corvettes that have had the BSM's for years and you can't tell they were ever there. I'd think that as new as our cars are they should come off and clean up very well.

Good luck and remember it's up to you whether or not to do this....if it's all screwed up don't shoot the messenger...I make no warranty for this.....

If there are holes or bolts, that is very important information! With the Vettes, they're just stuck on.....I'd call VW and ask to make sure....talk to a body shop person....

I love the molding. I call it a "character line."

well, took off the door strips today, and there are indeed holes on my 07 gti. anyways, i tried to use fishing line, and that left a lot of adhesive residue. i found that the easiest way was to use fishing line just at the beginning, until you have enough leverage to pull it by hand. this way, you don't leave any adhesive residue, except for a small part at the beginning. i found this out half way though my second door strip piece, and i would've saved a lot of time had i used this method in the beginning. also, i found that it was easier to start from the door opening outward.

Not bad. I didn't like it at first, but I think it flows well with the underskirt. Definitely not for people with a body kit though.

Can you post some more pictures of it zoomed out? So we can see the entire car?

But great job, it looks great!
