Last night I had the APR Fuel pump and software upgrade installed and the very first 1/2 punch in 3rd gear (about 3500 rpm) my car died, kapoot, dead, nothing......I was stuck in the middle of I-10 during rush hour traffic with no freakin' shoulders!
I was able to coast over to a construction spot and put on the flashers. I called the shop after hours and luckily he answered and brought me a loaner car and tow truck. Very cool dude and he was completely shocked this had happened.
I think I have a bad flash of the new software. I don't have any other info yet. Anybody else had this problem????

i'm sorry to say but this sounds like it might be a trend that's starting. apr usually makes good products but it seems they're dropping the ball with their latest "pump-n-tune".

i hope they find the problem quickly and that it is nothing serious. **crosses fingers:thumbsup:

How so?

OP, did you do the install yourself or did a shop do it? Did you check under the hood after the car died to make sure everything was properly connected? As for a bad flash, I do not believe that is possible. If the flash was bad, it would need to be rewritten before the car could start.

Doesnt the flash file have to match the ECU code? What if the dealer uploaded the wrong ecu coded flash?

The pump was installed at an Authorized APR dealer which has done all my APR mods.

i'm sure you'll get it figured out man. it probably isn't anything serious...even if it is, if its their fault they WILL fix it for you...they're good for that.

however, if its the shops fault only you know if they're "good" to fix it or not.

again, here's hoping its nothing serious and it all gets traightened out in short order. :drinking:

keep us posted.

I do not believe its possible to upload a mismatched ECU coded file but they could upload the the non fuel pump file or something like that. Just ask for a burn report, that will have the file name.

Here is an example burn report:

Distributor Name: CXXXX PXXXXXXXXXX
Customer Name: ahnell, arin
Customer E-Mail: aXXXXXXXXXX
Burn Date: 10/1/2007 5:03:31 PM - 10/1/2007 5:24:05 PM
ECU Name: VW Jetta,GTI NA MY2007 DSG 2.0T FSI 1K0907115H S0030 Stage 2+ V1.0 TP Single Stalk APR Pump with Performance
Is a trial?: No
Serial Number: 4XXXX
# Programs Selected: Stock
# Stage 2+ 93 Octane V1.0
# Options Selected FCE/TBA
# Security, value XXXX
Successful Burn?: Yes

i'll vouche for that, the apr directport system identifies the ecu automatically and only the right file can be put on. and if the burn was bad the car would not turn on and drive

Does the APR dealer need to be running a particular version of the APR loading software? My burn report looks a little different than Arin's burn report.

I'm not bashing APR but my car was running perfectly before the pump was installed. It ran less than 10 munites after the install. I didn't even get a chance to let it run. It took the dealer almost an hour to get the flash completed. The APR server kept logging him off while trying to load to the software.

I believe you, my APR dealer had to flash my car twice with the Stage 2 software, because he didnt know that after you flash the car, it automatically goes in stock mode. Mine was locked too.

Make sure after he flashes you, switch to chip mode.

Keith from APR helped me out.
