Well, i got the LCT unit installed today.

pic of the unit:

pic of the unit partially installed:

video (sorry, it's really really bad quality)

this is what they claim:

- display 0-60 mph time on the MFD (dashboard) in realtime
- display 0-90 mph time on the MFD (dashboard) in realtime
- display quarter mile time on the MFD (dashboard) in realtime
- display half mile time on the MFD (dashboard) in realtime
- display 0-100 kmh time on the MFD (dashboard) in realtime*
- display 0-140 kmh time on the MFD (dashboard) in realtime*
- display 400 metre time on the MFD (dashboard) in realtime*
- display 800 metre time on the MFD (dashboard) in realtime*
- display the absolute turbo boost pressure on 2.0t engines on the MFD (dashboard) - even while driving (specified boost only)
- display the relative maximum turbo boost pressure on 2.0t engines on the MFD (dashboard) in realtime
- display the actual o2-sensor (lambda) readings on the MFD (dashboard) in realtime
- allowing to select between 2-6 comfort blinks (factory is only OFF or 3) on either indicator
- automatically open/close the windows with the factory RF key remote
- adding a special indicator or horn sequence while you are in reverse gear
- adding Brake Light Assist
- adding Mirror Park Assist (flips down the passenger side mirror so you can see the curb)
- functions can be configured through our exclusive on dash menu via the MFD
- the module can be switched off to be completely invisible to any workshop
- works with automatic, DSG or stick shift
- easy installation - takes less than 10 minutes
- new installation harness for full plug and play: no wires to cut or splice!
- new dual core processing power

i believe the boost shown is spec'd tho, and not actual.

let me just start out my saying that i think that this should've been the beta release. so far i have tried the following features:

- display the absolute turbo boost pressure on 2.0t engines on the MFD (dashboard) - even while driving
- automatically open/close the windows with the factory RF key remote (3 or 5 clicks)
- adding a special indicator or horn sequence while you are in reverse gear
- adding Mirror Park Assist (flips down the passenger side mirror so you can see the curb)

my comments

-the boost works, but it's in absolute pressure measured in bar, and is spec'd, not actual.
-the max boost thing is a little finicky at times...sometimes it won't read the right value. the current boost thing seems to be working tho.
-if you have the 3 comfy blinks activated, then using the lct will add two to whatever the menu says, so for example, if you put 4 comfy blinks, then in reality, it'll give you six.
-the 3 click window open/close is a little finicky...i had to do it twice to get it to work.
-i wouldn't recommend using the horn indicator in reverse...it's loud as hell.
-the mirror assist feature was finicky...it would turn the mirror down, but it wouldn't move it back up. i messed around with the unit, and it seems to be working ok now.
-the unit is kinda counter-intuitive, tho if you follow the manual, then you will be able to navigate the system.
-sometimes, it wouldn't let me into the lct setup, so i'd have to turn the car off and try it again.

Hi
i am very interested to buy the vario plus module.
Does it works better? Have you bought it in the web site? Now it is not available. Is sure to buy at this website?
Tks

I installed mine today. The windows down and up via the remote works fine. The 0-60 works also( I have a DSG). The parking aid is fine.
My complaint is my stereo controls via the wheel are non-existent now. To me that is a deal breaker. Anyone have this issue?

if you are in performance mode (showing 0-60 or boost/af) then the up and down buttons are disabled. once you exit performance mode AND turn the radio off and on again, then the up and down buttons will work again. btw, this is covered in the manual that they sent with the unit. if you didn't get the manual, then you should contact them and have them send it out to you.

the mute and volume stereo controls will work even in performance mode.

btw, i've found that when in performance mode (displaying boost and a/f), you can't access the ecu module via the vag-com. when i exit the performance mode, then i can access the ecu module. i can access the other modules while in performance mode.

also when i did a quick scan via the gateway installation list, i found a bunch of dtc's in a bunch of modules. hopefully it was because when i had installed the unit. i will check later to see if the codes come back.

i did more checking, and this solidifies my thought that the lct unit reads spec'd boost:

Andy@Ross-Tech.com said:
If you are measuring pressure upstream from the throttle body (as the factory does, and VAG-COM displays) then I wouldn't expect to see values much below ambient at all. ...

http://forums.vwvortex.com/zer...57543

this was also confirmed with the vag-com. actually couldn't look at the vag-com at the same time as the lct unit, but i looked at it under similar conditions (i.e. about 15 seconds apart in Park and at idle), and the unit was showing .47bar, the vag-com was showing 470mbar for spec'd, 990mbar for actual. so the unit reads spec'd.

My steering wheel buttons are completely dead when the unit is connected. I am going to shoot them an email about it.
Thanks for pointing out the maunal, I totally missed that in there.
I'm going to play around with it some more toady and will probably just take it out tomorrow.
