Holy cow, this is interesting:

"Central Locking and Anti-Theft System Antenna -R47- receives signals from tire pressure sensors."

wow so its radio transmitted? I just had to have a tire patched and I was a little concerned that the tire place wouldn't properly hook up the sensors. Guess theres no need to worry about that. :)

I want to see if there's a way to retrofit the active TPMS from the US onto my GTI (we only get passive ABS TPMS in EU and it's not too great).

cool info. I almost constantly had my tpms light on everytime I autocrossed or changed rims. I just vaged it so the light never came on again. Still cool infor though.

if you buy stock wheels from other sellers here with tires from factory which they took off coz of ugrades...would it have the TPMS with it? and what happened to those people that changed theyre wheels to aftermarket? is the LOW PRESSURE light comes on all the time?

2 dumb questions:

1. When i get new wheels can i transplant the sensors even if the wheels are a different size?

2. If i use fix-a-flat will they get messed up?

The sensors are attached to the valve stems, right? so they should be transplantable for most wheels, unless they're ultra-low profile. I think anyway.

A transplant requires new guts or whatever for the valve stems. Ask dealer (not my dealer cause they are mostly DOA). Some make the change without a problem but new guts are recommended.

Also, the light is not that annoying. A small piece of tape or whatever would cover it if it bothers you. We have 2 with winter tires and permanent light is on in both. Vag-com can turn light off I've read.
