Your Chipped MK5 0-60 Time

For the GTI the chiptuning is mostly putting another program on the original ECU throw the OBD-II port. With Revo and APR you can have the ability to switch between the stock program and their own program

Does the info in this thread affect people with chips if they experience the issue where there GTI won't start? Is this chip a reflash or is it a full replacement?

That's some good info to share with those that are chipped. I believe it's a reflash.

if you let your GTI chiptune by an program like for example APR or Revo and done by an experienced technician I don't think it can happen that your GTI wouldn't crank when you try to start it. I assume it could happen if you start messing with the settings in the ECU throw VAG-COM yourself

Because this is a front wheel drive car 0-60 isnt gong to be its forte' b/c the car will spinn more then hook up. i would say the car is going to be around low 5 sec range after 60 is when the car will have a big difference.

Yes. So, the trap speed at the end of the 1/4 should show the gains if any.

I'm starting to suspect that this list has some "marketing" going on from people who really havent done a chip mod, but are representing that they are.
It's happened on other car lists I've been on.
Buyer beware, always.

alright. i did a lil test run down my street today and went from a 10 or so mph roll and got to 60 in under 5 seconds. i know that might sound a lil crazy but my friend videotaped it from outside of the car and then when we watched on the tv i used a stopwatch to get the time. i just clicked start as soon as i heard the car accelerate and then stopped it right as soon as i shifted out of 2nd because the car tops out at 60 in 2nd. 2nd gear pulls sooo hard with it chipped. i noticed on the stock mode u can feel the torque taper off right around 5 grand in first and second, but with the 93 setting, its pulls hard all the way to redline.

i am having a bit of a problem with the apr chip tho. i was on the stock setting and wanted to put it on 93 so i turned the car, did the whole cruise control thing, but when i went to start the car, it would not turn over. i thin k i heard someone having that same problem in a different thread but i couldnt find it. has anyone else with the apr chip or any other chip had any sort of problems like that? well, im gonna bring the car back to the shop i had it done at tomorrow to see if they can get it worked out. hopefully it'll be alright.

This is lame that no one has drag strip proof of before and after. I always posted my 1/4 mile gains with my 99 Z28. It is early in the year and is too cold in most places.

I'll get my friend to sit in my car with a stopwatch either tonight or tomorrow. My car is outputting at least 230bhp (possibly more, the dyno that I tested on was underreporting significantly) and it's a DSG; I also know of a great straight near where I live. Been meaning to do it for awhile. I'll see if I can get him to take a video too.

Okay, just went and did some 0-60 runs. Didn't do any quarter mile runs because I forgot (doh), though I might go and do those tomorrow.
Ambient temperature was 2C/35F, slightly damp (rained a day before) but not greasy, on fairly good tarmac. I did two runs, [cut]. Car is producing at least 228bhp, need to get onto a fixed dyno to get some more accurate figures.
All video files are AVI files under 1MB, you'll need DivX codec to view. Available in original 3GP if requested.
Here's Run 1, time for that was a not particularly impressive 6.75s:

Run 2 produced a more impressive 6.3s for the 0-62.

And, just because, here's a video of my cabin:

And one of me getting out of my car.

Thanx cmdrfire... i dont know, but i think 6.3 isnt overly empressive for a chipped GTI:iono:

Nice work! The car seems to have 19" wheels and thats a 0-62mph. So 0-60 is probably at 5.9s or 6.0s. And if I heard correctly there was no launch control being used. So with LC and 17" wheels it might be mid-low 5s, maybe??
