Looking in picking up a set of 3mm spacers and being that i've never had experience with em, I wanted to see if one should stick close with a brand name or if you can go with a generic/amazon/ebay kit. They seem to just sheets of aluminum, so it doesnt appear they would have any failures.

Side note: I've done a stud conversion and will have PLENTY of threads.

Try get hub centric and not cheap universal ones as they will coz vibrations. Also remember as it's smaller than 5mm you are choosing the kit simply sits on your hub ring only leaving like another 2mm to sit the wheel on , where as if you get good 5mm spacers they come with a new hubring. The spacers encloses the original but gives you a new one still at the correct centre bore size of 57.1. - better option in my opinion.

I get what youre saying and it makes sense. problem is, I can't find anything thats hubcentric under 5mm.

More wheel bore is 66.6 and I see that 42DD sells 5mm 57.1 > 57.1 (or 57.1 > 66.56). I'm just wondering if that .04mm of a differences is going to cause problems.

Otherwise, I'd have to run 57.1 > 57.1 at 5mm and include the hubcentric ring.
