Need a good mechanic in Chicago.

Have a 2007 Gti and looking to do some work including:

- valve cleaning (carbon build up)
- new timing belt
- dsg fluid change


Any good recommendations ?

I do most of my stuff at Genesis Racing & Development. They are in the process of moving to a bigger location as of right now, but should be up and running for the most part in a few days.

I just did my DSG and Haldex at jrpshop.com. They are located in Plainfield if you are willing to drive... They charged me a total of $400 of the two services.

Well my fluids are changed properly with no problem... not sure if that count as good work I went to them based on recommendation from folks on vwvortex, seems like the shop has a decent reputation on that site.

I think I should note that the DSG fluid they used is a German after-market brand and not the OEM DSG fluid. The OEM DSG fluid is available upon request but it'll run you about $30 more. From what I've heard there's no problem with the after-market fluid.
