Both I believe, but I'm hearing that I need to go to DMV? Why?

not sure why... maybe something about you being 18? i was in two accidents. one super minor 3 years ago, my fault, where the only damage was scratches from my front plate screws. other one <1 year ago, the other guys fault where my rear bumper got jacked up. neither time did i have to go to dmv and police reports were filed.

thing is, with a police report, your insurance IS going up. doesn't matter if you get them to fix it or not, but you were at fault in an accident. insurance goes up. it might go up less if you don't make a claim, but i don't know about those details.

Really, that makes sense because I have no idea why I would go to the DMV if the police already know about it. Yeah I'll know more in the following days

I hit someone at a lower speed and spent 5k fixing the Rabbit. Get it checked. Everything from my hood, fenders, radiator, headlights, and bumper had to be replaced. Insurance is the way to go.

sorry to hear that. glad everyone's ok.

here's an answer y you u need to report to the dmv.
http://dmv.ca.gov/forms/sr/sr1.htm
http://dmv.ca.gov/pubs/hdbk/actions_fr.htm#report
it goes to the SR1, DMV wants to make sure u r liable/insured driving any vehicle and if not ur license may get suspended. mine almost got suspended coz i thought my insurance file my SR1 form but they didn't, so i called dmv asap 1 day after my license almost got suspended.

edit: i was reading that there's a police report, so yeah make sure u report to the dmv. if not you'll be getting an SR1 form stating if u don't file and send it within 10 days you license will be suspended. gl
