I just started getting some serious misfiring in my 2006 GTI which led me to post my first thread here. Hope this is in the right place.
After changing my gateway I took the car out for a drive. I got some errors when changing but I believed they were related to no connection with the gateway. The engine started misfiring after flooring it in 3rd and the CEL started blinking for a while, then disappeared. Vag-com showed fault codes P0300 (Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected ) and P0301 Cylinder 1 - Misfire Detected). After reading around I swapped the ignition coils in cylinder 2 and 1 and the misfiring shifted to cylinder 2 instead (fault code P0302). I had the spark plugs changed about a month ago so it shouldn't be any problems with them. Since this happened right after changing the gateway I am wondering if changing the gateway could ruin my ignition coils or is this just a weird coincidence?
