Anybody know if the FMIC in the Golf R is the same as the S3/TT? Anybody have a part number for it?

It should be the same, same engine, same turbo, same injectors.

I was thinking the same, but then thought maybe there were differences in mounting or something that would make it not work for us.

Specifically a VW part number for the FMIC, would give us a few more options to order rather than just the Audi number we already have.

i just hope the introduction of R well hopefully make prices more affordable for us FSI owners to upgrade to a K04.

But be warned, it comes with the plastic end tanks...

+1
The ones we get over here also come with plastic tanks. Even the new S3 comes with the plastic tank coolers.

The mk6 cooler is pretty much in the middle, it is thicker and better than the oem mk5 fmic but it isn't as efficient as the metal tank s3 cooler. The only better option than the s3 cooler is going with WMI, or the APR & THS coolers, but they cost a fortune.

Just get an upgraded intercooler and call it a day!
