really?
This past month I pulled the trigger on a new K04 tune. It was a leap of faith at the time but I ended up happy.

I have the autotech hpfp, twintake, 42DD 3" turbo back exhaust, twintercooler and a K04 from a low mileage Golf R. I’m running S3 injectors, but that’s because I bought them before I knew DM could tune it for stock injectors.

DM sent me a cable next day air and we began the process. Unfortunately I had a hardware issue that had the car throwing a cam position sensor fault code. DM sent me a file to try and helped troubleshoot the issue even though it was not related to their software, simply to help out.

After this was figured out, I was sent a higher output file and the car started on the first crank and idled smoother than it has ever ran since I’ve owned the car. Being this is a new company and I was a guinea pig I was skeptical of the cable I was sent and the software but it flashed without issues in less than 10 minutes and the car cranked right up. The DSG had a more aggressive feel, despite this not being related to DSG software. The throttle was much more consistent and the top end pull was fantastic. My fuel mileage increased greatly, DM explained that this was due to the fact that the file was actually tuned for my car and isn’t going to suffer from fuel trim issues or misfires because of it… and they were right. Just the smooth idle, gas mileage and smooth power delivery is worth the money and a lot of it was attributed to the file being tuned for the intake.

The car has smooth timing advance, as high as 16* of advance. I had the file custom tweaked even further for my hardware 3-4 days after purchase and top end power improved further.

Tl;dr DM is legit. Don’t be afraid of a new company, it’s what this industry needs.

be sure to check out their website! http://drivermotorsport.com/mk5.html

Where are the based?

We're based out of Tampa, Florida.

Adrian - Thank you for the good review.

Remember, we do more than just K04 software.

We do Stage 1,2,2+ tunes, Dyno Graph shown here:

Stage 2+ E85 tunes, Dyno Graph shown here:

K04 with stock injectors and are taking Frankenturbo customers with stock injectors.

Do you guys have a website?

What are my options for my Mk5 that has the CCTA engine and a K04 installed?

We can do a tune with our standard features (rev-hang delete, linear throttle, raised engine speed limit). If you want it done for a water/methanol injection kit or something else just inquire with us and we'll get it sorted

Looking at your crank & wheel HP numbers for the K04 file. OP talked about a higher output K04 file. DO you have any numbers on that Driver Motorsport?

That would be similar to the Golf R file power output. The high output file would require a Golf R map sensor to be ran because boost pressure will exceed 2550 mbar of absolute pressure.

The advantages of this file is an increase in midrange torque. Unfortunately, I have not dyno'd this file yet.

Op said new tune what were you running before? Or are you just saying you went with a newer companies ko4 tune vs an older one? Did you switch map sensors? Seems power output is right about same as the file i run in pump mode. Would love to see dyno and look at the plot.

Also interested in the golf R map sensor upgrade and how this affects power on a k04 tune.

As it stands? The power output is good but not mind blowing compared to other tuners.

The power output shown is with boost pressure within the map sensor limit of 2550 mbar of absolute pressure. With ~22 PSI out of a K04, that's really the best you can get.

The Golf R map sensor means the tuner can see what boost pressure is doing over 2550 mbar. Means in the midrange, there is much more power available.

Expect an increase of 10whp/10wtrq after installing the map sensor. For such a cheap and simple item to install, 10whp/10wtrq is a good pick up.
