DIY Front License Plate Bracket

Would that work? I've always wondered if having the plate on the dash/visor would be legal...

Illegal in CA.

Owned my GTI for 6 months and have not put the front plate on yet. I did get a $60 ticket, but it looks much better with out it on there and worth the price! I need to move to a state that does not require front tags!

After recieving one ticket for having no front plate, the fine doubles here, then triples.

I wish I had found this thread before Friday of last week when the Dealer's drill hit my front bumper...

I'll live, ill just order a new bumper section when the time comes...
annoying that they havent thought of a better way to mount it though.

Anyone have a DIY for front license plate with NO holes when you've changed your front grills to the Jetta style and R-Lines? I need to think of something now that I changed it and since living in Cali, they will hassle me in no time.
