Last week, just as I was pulling into the parking lot at work, my clutch pedal started vibrating, and a terrible grinding noise started from underneath my GTI. I barely managed to limp into a parking spot before I had to dash inside to get to work.
Afterwards, when I tried to start the engine again, the RPMs would jump up to about 1k and I'd hear the same grinding noise, but then it would stall out. I got it towed back home, and I realized that it easily rolls while in gear, and makes that same grinding noise.
Now when you try and turn it over, it sounds like the starter just spins. I took the starter out and managed to take a peek at the flywheel, it seems to be intact without any missing teeth.
FSI, manual, APR Stage 2 (with intake, and DP), stage 3 racing clutch (was already in the car when I bought it).
