I wonder what the story is... wasn't there one that caught fire in Sydney not too long ago? It was all over the TV news in Japan.

Dunno about a GTI however as I mentioned in a post some time ago, Chatswood Classic had a 3 door R32 demo fire bombed in their yard back in April.

They still have the car under a blue tarp in their Artarmon Service Dept, the wheels still look in good nick from what I could see.
