Funny bloody well researched mate!
I tried the accessories position and accelerator down for 10 secs trick and can report the DSG has certainly lost its memory and even has the feel of being reset.
Personally I would see no need to go down the battery terminal route again.
Many thanks,

Dingah

Just one question.

A better way is to use the e-brake for your traditional "proper" hill start

What is the e-brake?

my DSG is still jerky as fuck.. took it back to the dealer and guess what!!!

they're replacing the entire control unit. the software reset has made no difference. it still jumps off from a start, and is rocky and surrey when in reverse.

i'll keep everyone posted in 3 odd weeks time (it has to come from Germany)
aparently if this doesnt fix it... only solution is a new box

Maybe it's time to "battery OUT" for a day or so?? What could hurt?
Could also be funky electrical connections or sensor - but you'd think that the dealer gizmo or VAGCOM would pick that up.

they have VAGed my car many times now to resolve those issues and each time nothing showed up. they then contacted VW Australia and they just told them to replace the control unit and they authorised it too.
i had both the head mechanic and the service manager talking to me (i get good service these days) and their comments was 'believe us this isnt the first time... in fact its not uncommon'

its a shame but i can tell you all.. my new CW is no lemon BMP thats for sure :bellyroll:

That's a worrying statement...

Thank god my DSG is still ok.

Mark, your dsg problems sound similar to mine. On moderate (50 - 60%) throttle away from standstill the 1st - 2nd change is rough, sometimes resulting in a massive engine "cough" and cut in power for a second or so. The last time it did that, my passenger thought I had slammed on the brakes.

Car has been to the dealer last week where they announced they had found the problem and replaced one of the clutches. But it's still jerky as all hell so I guess I'm going to get a lot more familiar with the local dealer over the coming weeks / months...

Steve.
