Are you TSI or FSI? If you are FSI check/replace the cam-follower. TSI doesn't have the same issues, so you're good there. Beyond that, you will probably want an intake for stage 2....most all the tuners have an intake/downpipe listed as mandatory supporting mods for stage 2. Also, I would consider replacing plugs/coilpacks. Make sure your maintenance is all up to date before you consider the reflash.

Hello,
Just bought a 2008 GTI two door 6-speed at 95,000 miles, for $ 6,800, it has a stage 1 APR tune on it with a BSH air intake and bsh oil catch can. There is also a forge diverter valve where the hood is & im not sure why when the car comes with one? They blocked off then other one with a flat plug, but it made oil go into the wires. I just did a timing belt and water pump on it along with pullies, since the owner had not done it. Also, the original owner had a navigation system in the car. It was updated last in 2008 so it was not accurate at all, so I took it out and put the stock radio back in since it was givin to me at time of purchase, but they have everything wired in an extremely ghetto way, and theres a non stock amp, because of this I currently have no sound system because I have to reconnect wires for to work. Other than that I love the car, I was previously driving an 07 Rabbit & love how this car drives way more than the rabbit did.

Hey everyone! I'm a month in on a 2009 GTI @70k miles. Getting into a few of the smaller and more affordable mods - if anyone knows someone in Houston with Vagcom access please point me in there direction.

Hi I'm Cody. I have been obsessed with the rabbit ever since I saw an 84 during my first year of college back when I was 18. When I was 19 I bought the closest one I could find which was sadly a gti but it was an 87 so I was close. Then a friend blew my motor so I had to stopgap to a 400$ Jetta until I got my hands on the late 2009 model Rabbit. (Aka Lola) Which i will never sell even when I finally do get my hands on the 84. Rabbit lover for life!

My name is Michael. I picked up a 2006 CW GTI. It has had quite a few mods. KO4 with APR software, 3 inch APR exhaust, stage 2 SBC, FMIC, and intake. APR front and rear sway bars, NGP type 1 coilovers. All mods were performed by NGP.
Car has quite a few miles (176k)but it's in almost cosmetic condition. Has invoices for EVERY SINGLE (baring some oil changes) scheduled maintenance for its life time.
Cam follower has already been ordered will change it out for its next oil change.
The only negatives are that it has a spot of rust above my drivers side wheel well, PO never finished an upgraded audio install, and installed 225/45/18 tires so it rubs in the even though it isn't that low.
Much different from the big turbo TDI swapped Mk4 gti I had before. Much more power and rpm to work with. Will keep active on the forums, the vortex MK5 forum is dead .

Check into the 'fender bolt mod' for that rubbing issue. There is a bolt that holds the fender liner on the front fenders that can be removed without issue (and fender liner tucked behind the metal tab on the fender to hold it). That little bit of clearing solves many peoples' issues with rubbing in the front. It's reversible and takes almost no time to do.

Hi everybody! After 30+ years of Toyota ownership, I got my first VW! Bought a 2008 Rabbit with a 5-speed with 96000 miles on it from a die-hard VW enthusiast so the car was well cared-for. He turned me on to these forums so I blame him for the modding itch that has since surfaced!

So far, its totally stock, with the exception of larger GTI brakes, K&N intake and a slightly larger rear sway bar, all installed by the PO. I can't wait to get a cat-back (thinking AWE or Eurojet) and tuned ECU to wake it up and give it a growl. These forums are awesome!

Cheers!

Eric

Hey all! I'm obviously new here, and while i don't have an mkV quite yet, I'm hoping to change that soon! I currently drive a b5 s4, full stage2 6spd in Silvaro. Once i can find someone with a dsg gti that wants an s4, I'll be a happy guy! Regardless, i hope to learn more about this platform and own one!

Hello all, New owner of a 2dr manual 07 GTI. Been havinf a couple of mechanical issues (as common with 150k mile car), so I'm sure some of you have already seen me in the mechanical subtopic milling beaway at the keyboard XD. Other than few issues it has I'm absolutely loving it and cant wait to have it at 110%

Hello MkV world!

Hi guys! I'm about to reenter the VW family after a few years away (used to have a Mk3 Golf).

Next week I'll be receiving my new-to-me 2008 Golf Variant Sportline (2.0T FSI, DSG).

I'm pretty excited . I've already planned out a few mods and can't wait to get started.

Hope this is a cool community where I can glean MkV knowledge.

Cheers!
