VIC - Winter Cruise in early July

Cruises seem to be missing from the calendar in the last few months. There has been some talks of having one some time in July during last night dinner in Camberwell.

I thought I'd post this up since Manol has yet to do so...It's to block out the calendar and telling your partners, gfs, missus, wives, children that you have better things to do on that day!!

Date: Sunday, 3 July 2011
Meeting Time: 10.15am (for 10.30am departure)
Place: Village Court, Glen Waverley

Please note: SAFETY and COURTESY must be of primary concerns and considerations.

Make sure the tank is filled up!!

Map copied frm Chris' post below.

The route as proposed by Chris.

Congratulations Nick. There's no doubt about it, some people are just born lucky.

Here is a suggestion for the July 3rd cruise. This cruise has been done before but this time it will be in reverse. The starting point would be Village Court, Glen Waverley.

Departure time - 10.00am. This will enable participants to stop at the Flowerdale Pub for lunch.

It is a leisurely run of approximately 4 hours. Distance 295 klms.

I've indicated that the cruise would end at Docklands.

PLEASE NOTE, THIS IS JUST A SUGGESTION.

Not likely. I propose to dawdle along behind, at a safe distance.

I did a pre-run yesterday of the "suggested" cruise for the 3rd of July. I'd like to propose some changes.

With the exception of a short windy bit of road between Strath Creek and Broadford (near the Murchison Spur Road), it is my view that the drive from Kinglake West to Flowerdale and on to Lancefield is really not worth the effort. In addition, I have a concern that the Flowerdale Pub might not be able to accomodate us for lunch. It's only a small pub. Sometimes it's hard to get a table.

So, I propose the following adjustment.

Departing half and hour later.....at 10.30am.....we stop for lunch at the Kinglake Pub. It may even be possible to book a table via phone from the meeting point, once we know how many participants there are.

After lunch, we proceed to the Yan Yean Reservoir for a photoshoot. Being 20 minutes from the Metropolitan Ring Road, this will enable participants to go their separate ways, with relative ease.

The overall cruise is now reduced to 151 klms with a time frame of just over 2 hours. The later start will enable all you party animals to sleep in just that little bit longer.

Here is the revised map. PLEASE post your thoughts.

That looks like a good trip out Chris....certainly better than the 'cruise' Nick suggested!

Still in for this one!
