It started giving him issues when he was pushing 42-43psi on his 6266 and I'm guessing 800-850whp (2.0L).
Honestly, most people in my power range don't have a lot of issues with built engines. If they are done correctly a lot of them last. I'm shooting for 480whp on E85. So high 300's on 91oct. Even if I have another engine failure, that wasn't the majority of the cost. It was all the little items, injectos, clutches, etc, etc.

I love Evo's, but I couldn't ever daily drive one. It sounds fucking horrible.

Yeah he doesn't daily his old 9. He has an Evo 4 now. Well, technically it's a Mirage but the previous owner bought an Evo 4 and literally swapped everything over besides the dashboard (it's still LHD). Going to be a wicked restoration when he's through with it.

Makes sense. Weird how a car is a few different cars in different countries. Like is a mirage a lancer in Aus or something.

152k but yeah. I took out 3rd and 4th gear in October 2015 after drag racing. Pretty sure it's probably just the shift fork/synchro since I can still drive it, but I got another trans anyhow.

Otherwise, a lot of PM and some upgrades.

LSD

H&R FSB

Passat LCA and spindles (aluminum and half the weight)

Front wheel bearings

Tyrolsport subframe bushing kit

SS clutch line and all 4 brake lines

Castrol SRF brake fluid

Superpro LCA front and rear bushings for front LCAs

Bilstein PSS

Dieselgeek short shifter

42 Draft Designs CNC bushings for shifter bracket

New OEM throwout bearing

I put it off yes. I was trying to avoid cc debt. Mortgage and my car payment and other bills come first. Plus I did buy a lot of stuff for the house in the last year.

Xbox 1 Elite
LG washer
Samsung UHD 55" tv
Soundbar
Waterheater
Dehumidifier

Damn near $3000 right there.

Yeah houses are expensive lol. We just bought a whole house water filtration system to help with our well water. Our tap water is now cleaner than bottled water so that's cool, but $4200 later I could have finished my motor build.

And just wait for the day when the well dries up and you have to have a new one drilled. My dad had one dry up. The next one was super red from iron. Finally got a good one on the third try. Something like $3k each drilling.

Bottle lol. If everything goes smoothly, I should have the car back before March. Obviously not driving it until all the salt is off the roads.
