Ye I kind of answered my own question. Just wasn't sure if it was rust. Glad Vw are taking care of it for you.
Two new fenders, repairing rust underneath sideskirts on both sides, and a new hatch. car is almost tucking tire in the front and I honestly can't believe they decided to cover it.. I just wish they covered blending, but I really can't complain much.

Used a vacation day to get some work done on the car
Got my front BBK installed, had my wheels re-balanced (weights fell off while sitting in the basement) and then mounted, bed the brakes, and had some things vagcom-ed (hatch pop kit enabled, door warning lights enabled, door chime disabled, seatbelt warning disabled).
Brakes are insane, 1mm of pedal application is all that's needed for normal driving. 50% application throws you forward. I locked up at around 60% but I'm sure practice will fix that.
