a little off topic - but im curious:
on my jetta grille - that lower piece (the part thats all chrome) - actually comes off - it makes painting it super easy
does it not come off on the standard gti grille? ive seen a couple of pictures where people newspaper/tape off the center portion of the grille - i wonder why they dont just snap off that bottom piece and spray it (cutting the prep time down)

The chrome on the jetta grill is a shield, that is removable. The GTI/GLI doesnt have that, its a solid piece.
