Engine wiring harness

From a workshop manuals online link, it looks like 2 is ground and 3 is 12v (15A feed) and then 1 should be signal to ECU.

For pin 1 it states:

ECM) J623 electrical harness connector T94 terminal 22.

Maybe someone can confirm this is the same for the BWA engine?

On golfgtiforum.co.uk it says:

BPY is the North American variant [with different emissions gubbins] of the European AAX or BWA variants

So I assume the it will be the same.

Pin 1: red
Pin 2: purple
Pin 3: black
Im finally busy with my engine change from BLX to BWA.

Here is the wiring missing something to connect to and I dont seem to have a connector for the oil presure sensor?
I see the oil presure sensor have an earth wire, so its a 1 pin connector.

The brown connector is the one I rewired from above in this thread but found where it should go. Other one is a 4 pin connector with 3 pins snd found its the air pressure sensor assigned.

Pretty sure those are all located under the intake manifold and near the oil filter housing. There's sensors along the under side of the manifold connecting to various bits and the configuration is looking similar to those(vid linked showing disconnection of them, I mean "hopefully them"). I have been watching diy vids learning of an upcoming 'oil filter housing assembly' seal replacement I need to do and there is a bit of harness that needs disconnecting in about that many connections.

Here's a pic; https://cdn4.pelicanparts.com/techa...ing_Sensor_Replacement/images_large/pic02.jpg

...and here's a diy vid you may need to pause in order to see where he disconnects everything from; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qip4_UYldrQ

There are three(I believe) parts of this vid so if you miss the harness connections when he disconnects them...perhaps he shows it better during reassembly.

Trying to sort this to complete my engine conversion and I had no idea about that 4 pin connector then realised its for the air pressure sensor :)

Ok I have found the 3rd knock sensor behind the oil filter housing but I will need to replace it as the BLX one only has 2 pins.

The 4 pin connector turned out to be the air presure sensor on the plastic bit running up to the throttle.

So its just the oil pressure single pin connector to sort

Anyone know if you can order wire connectors for the ecu block slide connector?

I need to add a wire to pin 22 for the maf but will need one of those connectors to slide it down the hole

Here’s the generic tyco connector sheet. There are different part numbers at the bottom for “compatible parts” where they list terminal part numbers. The terminals are differentiated by plating (tin, nickel, gold, insulated vs uninsulated, etc). There are several retailers with stock listed on the site, digikey usually lets you order a smaller minimum quantity

OR...you can order a whole new connector and terminal kit off ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/WIRING-HAR...483063?hash=item2a42088cf7:g:dzQAAMXQQtNR3RdU

Great thanks. I wouldnt have been able to attempt this conversion without your help Eurocars.

Took a lot of photos so far and I am down to the need to replace the oil filter housing as on mine the oil presure sensor connects in front and with that its in the way of the charge pipe going up to the throttle body.

I still dont have a connector for the oil presure sensor as its probably on the other conbector on the ecu (same as maf). Couldnt see any more missing wires on the engine wiring harness for it.

Will start a new thread soon if the car actually runs on monday after fitting the oil filter housing......crossing fingers :)

So figured out the wiring for the oil pressure switch.
I had the connector on the coolant temp sensor on the thermostat housing.
The BLX has a 1 pin connector and an earth strap but the BWA has a 2 pin connector with brown and black wires.

For the coolant the BLX has a coolant temp sensor on the bottom left radiator connection and since this connection moves to the right hand side for the BWA without a temp sensor Im extending the connector to go to the thermostat housing.
It has brown and yellow wires which match the ones on the images on pelican parts site

Added the MAF earth and signal wires. For the 12v feed is there an easy place to get the 15A connection the diagram speaks of?

I can easily get to the red and green wires on the ecu connector but diagram says its a 78A feed so not sure if that one will be ok to use?

Just waiting for on coolant pipe before starting it finally
