Video: APR TSI K04 Compressor Cover CNC Action!

APR recently released a new K04 turbocharger for the 2.0 TFSI/TSI engine which features a direct compressor mounted DV, turbo muffler delete and a new high quality turbo discharge mounting flange. You can read more about this new turbocharger system On the APR Website or read and discuss more in launch threads on this forum. The video below shows the compressor cover machining preformed on our in house 5 axis Fedal VMC 4525. Other parts are machined and later assembled on the compressor cover before it's reinstalled on the turbocharger, clocked and recalibrated. Obviously, I've speed up the video considerably!

Arin, how long does that take since its sped up?

I'm not exactly sure. I believe this was the first 'production' test we ran for our in house car. I believe the engineers then went back and tweaked the CNC programming to be as efficient as possible.

yeah, I see a couple of unnecessary rapids and such. Looks like someone crashed the tooholder into the head on prove-out or something. LOL

What do they program with? Mastercam? Delcam? Gibbscam?

Nice! Thx for sharing. I play with a manual mill and lathe, the CNC centers amaze me. May get a Brother center some day just for giggles, would be slick to learnn it just for personal stuff.
