A new Scirocco. Mmmmm....

I also have a soft spot in my heart (maybe my head) for the new Challengers - not as a daily driver though.

Love my GTI - it's my third one!

As others have stated, there are of course a ton of more expensive cars that I would rather have.

But staying within the same class/price point, I have to admit that the 2009 wrx is calling to me. awd, 265hp!!

However, I just leased my new 2008 gti only a few months ago, and I have feeling it would be hard (or cost me a lot of money) to get rid of my lease and jump into the new wrx. Ill test drive the 2009 wrx once my dealership gets them in stock tho

Trade my GTI?

... for a 1984 or newer 120 lb mute, nymphomaniac ex-gymnast who can bend over backward and lick her own ankles. Seriously, there are a lot of cars but virtually none in the price range. How does a Tesla Roadster sound?

Other than the other ridiculous fantazy cars (ex Porcshe 911 GT3, BMW M5, etc) I would possibly consider trading my GTI for a BMW 335 coupe.. That was my dream car until I met my GTI afterall.

Wishful thinking:
Nissan GTR
Porshe GT3
Audi RS5

Wishful thinking Off: (as in, if car was totaled/stolen, what would I cruise out and cross-shop today)
09 WRX/STi
BMW 135i (or 128i, a lil' loaded...the non-boosted six is still molasses-sweet)
Infiniti G37 coupe
Porshe Cayman/Boxster
08 Bullitt Mustang

2010 future consideration: (when my GTi lease, like all good things, come to an end)

Nissan 370Z
MKVI GTi
MKVI GTI-R?

Aslo wanted to add; minor warranty issues notwithstanding, my GTi/VW experience, drive-wise, dealership-wise, and ownership-wise, has been fantastic. This, in my humble opinion, has been the most fun I've had behing the wheel of a car since that road-head expereince back in '98. Only thing that would make it better is if it had 50 more hp stock and AWD. And the road-head chick from '98. But thanks to APR, 1 outta 3 ain't bad...:)

I would trade my DSG GTi for a used Evo 9 MR, S2000, or a Manual transmission GTi

I trade my GTI in for a European GTI TDI 4Motion.
