Weird questions

I see. I just ordered the hood insulation along with the R8 coil packs...

What you are describing is a boost leak. may or may not be DV. check PCV first by removing the dipstick with the car on. If idle changes PCV is good. if it doesnt then its done. then check DV and check any boost/vacuum hoses that you know of. after all of that comes smoke/leak test

Thank you for your input. I checked the DV and found a Forge Spacer/BOV. I took it off, with the very much appreciated assistance of high_octane3541 and then just gave it to him. He sold it on this forum in another thread. That seems to have resolved that issue. Again, much thanks!

Since then, I've installed a Bremmen Android Head Unit and replaced the aftermarket amp that came with the aftermarket subwoofer in my trunk. I'm going to install a Y-Cable this weekend, since the HU has 1 RCA output, and the amp has stereo inputs. Easy-Peasy.

Now, as of yesterday, BOTH of my front turn signals have stopped working. I stopped & restarted after waiting about 2 minutes, then checked the connections to the headlamp housings. Those all seemed secure. When I got home, I checked the fuses and they're also in good shape. What could be the problem here? BOTH bulbs burned out at the same time? Possible but not probable. Ok, I'll make some time and pull it apart to look at the bulbs and see if they just need replacing. See the attached image now. The bulbs are in fine shape, but the bulb housing is melted...and the wires going to it are in pretty bad shape, too.

"Well there's your problem!" - Jaime from MythBusters

These headlamp housings are complete garbage! So I found these for a decent price, about $100 less than what ECS wants for the same product. I'll order them on payday (next week,) and I feel like that should clear up some of my issues.

Comments? Please feel free to speak you mind here. I'm not easily offended and if you say my choice is stupid, I'm OK with that and will search elsewhere for another alternative. Feel free to suggest alternatives, too! Just, y'know, try not to be personally insulting. I can handle most negativity, but don't personally attack me.

And now I've seen the error in my ways. Apparently the GTI came with 12-pin connectors, and the link is for 10-pin connectors. Looks like I'm going with the ECS ones. Amazon has them with 12-pin connectors...for $100 MORE than what ECS wants for them. Easy decision.

Wow.

Apparently my decision wasn't so easy after all...I just chatted with Deven at ECS, to find out what I'll really be paying for these headlights...I have to factor in bulbs because the ones on my car are currently melted into the plastic and not reusable. And, if I'm going to replace all my bulbs, I need to know what it's going to cost me. Oh, and igniters. I gotta find out if igniters come with these housings, or if it's JUST the housings, meaning I'll have to wire up the igniters myself. That's a severe PITA. Not impossible, but not something I look forward to, either.

Here's the text of our conversation:

Code:
Me: ECS Part#ES#3220990
Does this part come with any bulbs? Does it come with an igniter? Or is JUST the housing itself?
Deven: Hello, thank you for contacting ECS Tuning. How can I help you today?
Me: ECS Part# ES#3220990
Does this part come with any bulbs? Does it come with an igniter? Or is JUST the housing itself?
Deven: ecstuning.com/Cart/
see link ^
these are just the housings.
Me: So...no bulbs, no igniter?
That changes the price quite a bit.
Deven: yes just the housings.
Me: The cheapest I could price out all bulbs for this was $120. For the bulbs I preferred for this, it was $260.
Those prices don't even include igniters.
Wow. You guys should put together a kit or something.
This same exact item is available on Amazon for $530, WITH igniters AND bulbs.
And because I'm prime, there's no fee for shipping to tack onto that.
I get that ECS also doesn't charge shipping for orders over $50, but it's still something to consider when ordering online.
I just did a quick search on igniters...they're $100 each. This went from $400, to $520, to $720! That seems a bit pricey, considering I can get a pair of OEM headlights with the igniters for around the same price.
OR I can go to Amazon and pay considerably less for the same thing.
If you guys wanna stay competitive, you really should put together a kit of some sort.
Deven? You still with me?
I still have another question, if you're still paying attention.
Ok, you're not paying attention any more. You need to work on your social skills and selling techniques. You just lost a sale.

So, it looks like I'm going with ones on Amazon, after all. Here's a link for GTI's (12-pin connectors) in case anyone else is also interested in these headlights. Personally, I think they class-up the front end quite a bit. Make it look more like an Audi, and more classy. I mean, if you want trashy, I'll sell you my old headlights once I get the replacements in. (Cheap!) PM me. If you want classy, though, get the ones I linked to.

Headlights DONE.

So I did even MORE research and didn't go with the ones on Amazon, either. I found that I could get them cheaper from eBay. So I ordered from eBay.

After I got the headlights, and got my old, pos ones out, I found out I have aftermarket igniters and ballasts. Great. Are they going to fit these new headlights? After poking around, I figured out, yes, they do fit. So I attached them, and took pics after I was done. Sorry, no pics of the aftermarket igniters or ballasts.

I also put on a new grille while I had the old, pos one off to replace the headlights. I had already bought it from someone else here, in the classifieds, iirc. I'm terribly sorry I don't remember your name, but I promise it's nothing personal, I rarely remember anyone's name. It's one my downfalls, I very easily forget names.

Ok, so I've also been playing around with my coding a bit, too. I've improved some, and not made much difference to some others.

Anyone have any ideas about right rear door? I've recently purchased a window motor to hopefully fix the issue where up is down and down is up. I mean, when you press "down" on the button, the window goes up, and vice versa. Research has told me that I need a new window motor. Found one in the classifieds here for a great price, thanks Pissat4Motion!

I had to shorten the code because it was too long, see error here:

Code:
The text that you have entered is too long (13793 characters). Please shorten it to 10000 characters long.

So apparently 10000 characters is the max length of *any* post.

I ran out of room on the last post, I was right at 10000 characters, not quite, but close. Not even enough for another sentence.

I am aware there is an Engine II module installed and no I don't know how to get rid of it or delete it. Do YOU know how to delete modules with a VCDS? Please tell me if you do, I would like to remove it.

Also, some weird errors in there, for sure, but I'm concentrating on the doors, locks and window motor at the moment. I'll get to the rest of it...eventually.
Anyone know what I'm doing wrong here? Or do I just need some new parts?
