i still own my 2008 (actually it has the timing belt engine .one of the first built and in reality a 2009 ) i use it only when i am in Connecticut and thus it has only 39,000 miles
the gti is all stock including the oe battery. ( i connect it daily or when away to a battery tender ) i did replace the chain tensioner ,just in case , and did all the recalls
.tires are also oe .will change them this fall.
car is still great.
this car is made in germany . and now the bad news ....
i went to see the new Arteon and found it ghreat looking but the interior is not worth of a $47,000 car ,not even the base $37.0 but a nice car if you do not cross shop based on price .
while at the dealer took a look at a 2019 gti . vw had stated that the new ones would be built in Germany .
the new ones are in fact assembled in Germany
BUT THE BAD NEWS ...THE ENGINES AND TRANSMISSIONS ARE MADE IN CHINA .
so, not for me ,regretfully.
