Official OZ Photo Section - of VW's Pics

Hi All,

Yes we have other threads in relation to photos..however with the amount of members in OZ now taking up the digital photo path, I thought of starting this thread to assist all Novice and Pros alike to upload Volkswagen photos taken by Australian members.

Feel free to discuss/include photo location, photo processing tips, what glass was used etc.

To assist members from across the forum easy find access to this thread, it would be nice if one of our Admins could Sticky this thread.

Okay, so here is one taken last night at a carpark in Moorabbin, using a small Canon IXUS camera.

I Pshoped it, then used filters to get this..I really like the finish of it.

Post up those pics ppl....Enjoy.

must learn photoshop or the gimp

posting people might want to add what they have used to edit photos with - mine are as they came from the Sony DCR-SR300 video camera; most are taken on a tripod; the ones with number plates jumping out at you have the flash activated.

A little photoshop trickery on Silver Surfer's fantastic pic from the Melb GTG:

Added black border to make the image pop a little more, mirrored the bridge pylons to balance up the back ground, cloned the tree from the left hand side to remove random vehicle in upper right, added a graduated filter to give some atmosphere.

Here's another fav shot of mine taken earlier this week...All 3 have been Pshoped CS3.

Pic 1 - is the original - Border/Hue/Sat and Sharpens added.

Pic 2 - Filter - Pastel Canvas effect (GTI left as original)

Pic 3 - Sharpness added with White strokes ghost Filter.

Here are a couple of my favorite pics, the first taken in winter at Sorrento boat ramp and the second at Cottesloe beach WA. The shadow blue looked the business in the sunlight.

cheers Nik!

lol i just realised after all this time that the horizon isnt level!! dammit how could i miss that?!

heres the corrected version

and in regards to the majority of the pics i take i usually use my Sigma 17-70mm or for the below pic my wide angle Sigma 10-20mm with my old Canon 350D body. i usually dont like to alter them too much on Photoshop. i guess its just a personal preference for me. what i will use photoshop for is just little things like cropping, rotating, and slight colour, brightness and contrast variations. i try not to get carried away as it is so easy to do on Photoshop.

lol its funny the more you use Photoshop the more you realize how fake pretty much every image in the printed media are. if you have ever picked up a Ralph, FHM or even the missus Cosmo its bright as day!

that said Photoshop seriously does kick ass!

Maybe it's just bad memories from dicking around with Photoshop in design school back in the early 90s, but fuck some of those filters do a great job at stuffing up otherwise perfectly good photos.

Oh! I thought it was that guy's silver Merc - drat I forgot his name - he led the Final Inspection Drive Day.

Always loved the 8 series :). Is that a 850i? I saw one just like your dad's (same color) near CSIRO / Monash Uni Clayton (around Computers Parts Land) last week. A middle aged gentleman was driving it. Could have been wrong but there aren't many of them running around. Thats a great car!
