Q for the experienced MK V owners...

I've fallen in love with a '13 MK VI DSG, w/ Autobahn, etc.

Now I'm left with the unpleasant task of selling my '09 MK V.

A couple of quick questions. There is rash on all 4 rims. Does it make $ sense to get them repaired? Is it a do it yourself job? If not, ballpark, what does it cost?

The cover that closes over the rear cup holder (and keeps it in) has come off. Does anybody know if that is an individual part? Do I have to order the whole thing?

In advance, thank you!

You need me local to you it sounds like. Post up pics of said wheel damage and I'll give you a quote as if I was doing it and if I think you can DIY the job I'll talk you through it no bother. Are the stock huffs? If so don't bother due to them being diamond cut and you cant do that at home. Need to be sent of to somewhere that has the specialists cnc. Probably around 100/150 a wheel.

Stock huffs are the pain in my assholes. Got a few curb rashes, too bad you're not more local to me lol, I'd need a guy like you.

I disagree that curb rash on all four wheels is no big deal. If you want to increase your chances of selling the car, then it's something you should probably address. I'm looking to buy another MKV GTI, and the condition of the wheels definitely matters to me. The finish on the huffs is especially difficult to repair and have it turn out looking factory.

It might not be worth the cost to repair the wheels, but you should expect potential buyers to offer you less for the car because they will either need to repair or replace all four wheels.

I had to replace my rear cupholder because it had been broken by someone kicking it, and it wouldn't shut. I found a $43 replacement on eBay, it came in about a week from Hong Kong: http://r.ebay.com/1XqaGn. I'm unsure if it's VW OEM but it looks OEM, pretty much identical to the original.

Update: I found a cheaper one, http://r.ebay.com/GMjgjZ.

Def not VW part. But it is as good as OEM. China parts have been perfect in recent years.

I figured, the details on the back of the plastic weren't the same to the old one. But these things look almost identical, it's crazy how well they copy things.

iirc you can get the very back part (w/ texture) of the rear cup holder from vw dealers, or you can buy the whole rear cup holder on ebay out of china.

but i wouldn't worry about it.
