A cayote body mustang with a 5.0 could beat a stock GTI if he was in reverse if they were trying. With my ko4 and worn tires the only one I have come across took off on me while my wheels were spinning still. Sorry op but you had no chance whatsoever his power to weight ratio is half of yours.
