Hi all-
Recently came across a problem on my mk5 golf 1.9tdi (105)
It sounds almost like a ticking air leak, and seems to be coming from somewhere around the rocker cover.
Doesn't make a noise on idle, only when driving normally and rises/falls with engine revs. Also makes a faster version of the same sound (coming off boost) when coming off the throttle. Does not make this noise on wide open throttle making boost.
Car also seems quite sluggish taking off and slightly misfires, although this is very sporadic and more often than not drives completely fine apart from the noise.
Any ideas?
