Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum as I have never had the need to ask a question about my Golf until now!
I've got a 2008 GT Sport 140 with a BKD engine code. I've owned the car from 11 months old, it's the best car I've every had so it's about time it has some tlc off me.
So the problem has popped up after 8 years and 92k miles. It started to judder as if in a too high a gear and it was labouring, I dropped it a gear and pushed on and the judder went away, this all happened at between 30-40mph. As I came to a halt, it cut out and wouldn't start again.
It turns over strong, there's no dash warning lights and when I finally called the AA, the Bosch and other generic OBD didn't detect any fault codes so it got towed home.
I haven't got around to scanning it myself. I have VAGCOM as I own a 6N2 Polo GTI. I'm no stranger to VW or generally working on cars as I've just changed the gearbox on my Polo - this is all I need next! - but I don't know a lot about diesels.
Any advice on where to look first would be much appreciated, I've read a little about the low pressure or 'lifter' pump in the fuel tank? It's always been serviced by a VW specialist so I've ruled out a blocked filter etc.
Cheers
Stan
