I just changed the cam follower on my 2007 GTI with 112,000 miles on it. Thanks for the detailed DIY. Here is what it looked like.

Hi im a noob and want to check my cam follower but my fuel pump doesn't look same. It doesn't have that valve thingy

Yes you have the old pump style, probably with the banjo bolt as well. What I did on mine to release the pressure was to remove the LPFP fuse and start the engine. I am not sure if it served any purpose since it was a mess anyway :bellyroll: just be careful when you disconnect the hoses, open them gently with a cloth around to recover the fuel as it escapes. I guess the banjo bolt is good for this since it leaks very progressively.

Great write-up. I did this today with the banjo bolt, which was a complete pain. The rest was easy.

One problem, while messing with the banjo bolt I broke the small male connector that goes to this coolant hose. Anyone know which replacement part number I need?
