2006 GTI AC problem

So I sold my might-never-gave-any-problem 07 and bought an 06.
It had 29k miles and now at 33k and already giving me problems.
When people tell me VW has so many problems with the car, I am quick to say no, it is very reliable. But not this time.
The AIrbag light came up about a month ago and I mostly ignored the issue. Maybe 2-3 daya after the airbag light incident, I found out the AC isnt blowing cold air. I took it to the AUtuning for an oil change and asked about the airbag and ac issues but no fault for ac was found (they said I would need to replace the ignitor for the side airbag).
I got the ac leak tested and fre-on filled up but still no cold air. The mech is now pointing his figers at the compressor (~$700).
What could be the issue here?
I dont hear the “compressor”? Runnung when I turn on the ac but is it really a bad compressor? Or another stupid sensor or wiring, electrical issue?
How can I test it before dropping ~$1000 to have AC?

/rant
Thanks

What was the compressor shut off code when they scanned it. Compressors on MkV are always turning they do not use electrical clutch but a regulation valve to control output of compressor.

When AUtuning (vw shop) scanned it, there was no fault code for the ac.

Still could have seen what the code was, on off ect.

List of codes

Here is a list of typical Compressor Shut off codes:
- 0 = Compressor ON
- 1 = Compressor OFF: Refrigerant Pressure too high (> 32 bar)
- 2 = compressor OFF: Basic setting not performed
- 3 = Compressor OFF: Refrigerant Pressure too low (< 2.0 bar)
- 5 = Compressor OFF: Engine Start Detection
- 6 = Compressor OFF: ECON Mode active
- 7 = Compressor OFF: A/C System / FAN OFF
- 8 = Compressor OFF: Outside Temperature too low (< 3.0 °C)
- 10 = Compressor OFF: Vehicle System Voltage too low (< 10.1 V)
- 11 = Compressor OFF: Engine Temperature too high (> 118 °C)
- 12 = Compressor OFF: Shut-Off requested by Engine Control
- 13 = Compressor OFF: Vehicle System Voltage too high (> 17 V)
- 14 = Compressor OFF: Evaporator Temperature too low
- 16 = Compressor OFF: Compressor Activation faulty
- 17 = Compressor OFF: No or implausible Signal Pressure Sensor
- 18 = Compressor OFF: Vehicle Speed Shut-Off
- 19 = Compressor OFF: Shut-Off requested by Central Electronics Control (Load Management

Also most of the time it's only an actuator on the compressor which is defective. You can replace it yourself but you need to get the refrigerant evacuated. There is a video on it on YouTube from "Auto Repair Guys" channel

Hi,

Are you talking about the ac compressor control valve?
I am gonna see which compressor I have and order the valuve.

Thanks!

Not just the compressor off code, but I always checked the tq reading of the compressor when commanded on.

So I ordered the compressor control valve from USPmotorsports and replaced at a local shop. AC is now blowing cold air and saved my self ~$500.
If anyone is having the same problem, try the compressor valve first.

Nice, now keep an eye on the G65 pressure sensor as it is known to leak and has been updated. This one can be replaced without evac & refill.

Scan for codes........ do both fans come on when you turn AC on?

Yeah it does. I parked the car and check the fan not running then I turn on thr AC, which made fans run.
Ill check for codes sometime this weekend.
Thanks for your help man!
